AEC Regent III RT #RT1

11 april 2010 - Wisley, Surrey (UK). The most important bus in Britain. This is the prototype of the London RT Class, the first of over 7,000 similar buses that were the classic London bus of the 1950s. It has recently been bought at a cost of GBP 150,000 (PLN 750,000) to stop it going to a collector in America.

2 may 2010 - Redhill, UK - Brighton Road: The celebrated prototype of the London RT-class, #RT1, runs through on its way to Brighton for the annual rally of commercial vehicles. This bus isn`t quite what it seems, as London Transport policy was to separate bus bodies and chassis on overhaul, so the fleet number, body and chassis numbers all got mixed up every time a bus passed through the central workshops. Although RT1 was kept separate (because it had many non-standard features) it still changed identity several times and enthusiasts will happily spend hours arguing the true fleet number of the bus we now call "RT1"

13 april 2014 - Cobham, UK - Brooklands: Arguably the most importand bus in the UK, this is RT1, the prototype for over 4600 similar buses that became the standard throughout London and the Home Counties. After a long and sometimes difficult career, this bus is now safely housed in the London Bus Museum after a national appeal to raise the money required to save it for posterity.
