What is your insight on the latest changes in Vilnius transport network?
Linia jedzie na bajora - in polish - Bajoro - contemptuous word for lake.
@JacekM - I'm very positive about this. Shuttle buses are really great - they are much faster than trolleybuses. 22 minutes instead of 35+ from Pašilaičiai district to bus station.
@Tatuś - "Polish name" of this district - Bojary (according to Polish map of year 1934).
We are not as positive but it's just because we don't use transport in Vilnius everyday and would like just to see more trolleybuses (preferably Skodas 9Tr and 14Tr)
Such optimization was necessary for a very long time. It is not effective to run so many direct routes with like 50-120 min. intervals and which are impossible to get synchronized between each other. For now, almost all ineffective routes were removed (excep trolleybuses 14 and 15). Of course, from the point of transport fan you and I want to see as many trolleybuses (and buses) as possible but this is not the way public transportation works. It cannot run only with purpose "to exist". Still, in the city center you would not see the difference as most of routes now run at higher frequency than before 07.01.
