29 july 2004 - Jena, Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse. During the summer of 2004, Line 2 to Jena Ost was cut due to a major bridge replacement. A shuttle service on this isolated tramway was provided by several double-ended Gotha cars - the last regular operation of these classic East German trams, apart from Woltersdorf.

29 july 2004 - Jena, Geschwister-Scholl-Strasse. The temporary terminus of Line 2, which shuttled from here to Gotha Ost whilst a bridge was being replaced. Even as late as 1984, everything on this short line still had a very 1960s feel.

29 july 2004 - Jena, Germany - Karl-Liebknecht Strasse: I visited Jena at an interesting time, when little Gotha trams of the 1950s still worked alongside new low-floor cars. The route of this single track line to Jena Ost was all side-of-the-road running, giving everything a feel of much older times.
